Record the size exactly as labeled, including the sizing system and product version. A bare “8” is not enough: US men’s, US women’s, UK and youth sizes are not interchangeable price comparisons.
Separate identity, fit and market comparison
A shoe can fit you and still be the wrong comparable release. Start with the style code and the version of the product, then use the brand or product-specific chart to interpret its size. Do not apply one universal conversion to every manufacturer or release.
StockX describes US sneaker sizing and links product size charts. That is a reason to check the chart on the actual candidate page, not evidence that every listing on every marketplace uses the same convention.
Capture these details together
| Detail | Example format, not a conversion |
|---|---|
| Labeled size | US women's 8 |
| Other printed sizes | Copy UK/EU values from the actual label |
| Product version | Adult women's release; exact style code |
| Listing selection | The size actually selected on the source page |
| Condition | Your pair's wear and the listing's condition |
Check a listing before using its headline price
- Open the actual product page rather than relying on the search snippet.
- Select the matching size when that option exists.
- Confirm that the displayed price changed or remained valid for that selection.
- Read whether it is an ask, bid, recent sale or broader estimate.
- Exclude a price that belongs to an unavailable or different size.
Illustrative example: your record says US women's 8, while a screenshot says only Size 8. Leave that comparison unconfirmed until its size system is known. The same numeral is not proof of equivalence. Likewise, a youth version should not inherit the adult release's estimate merely because the colors match.
Keep fit notes out of the identity field
“Fits like a 9” can be useful as a personal observation, but retain the original label alongside it. Fit depends on the model and wearer; changing the catalog size to your preferred fit description can break later searches.
Review size suggestions in Pieces before accepting research. If the source does not establish the correct version and size, keep the uncertainty visible. The sneaker collection tracker explains the ownership workflow; it does not promise that every estimate has size-matched evidence.
