Start with three pieces you know well.
A useful designer wardrobe inventory starts with recognizable records. Try a jacket, a bag and a pair of shoes before working through the whole closet. Use the free closet inventory template if you want to organize the details first.
- Describe the exact version. For a jacket, note the product name, material, color and labeled size. Add a season or collaboration only when you can verify it. For a bag, include its model, dimensions or marketed size, material and hardware. A brand name alone leaves too many possible matches.
- Document what has changed. Photograph wear, repairs, alterations and missing accessories. A shortened hem, replaced strap or missing dust bag belongs in the record even if the main photograph looks pristine.
- Keep ownership and market records separate. Preserve the purchase amount, currency and date with the receipt in a private location. Compare market evidence only after checking that the listing describes a compatible version and condition.

What counts as a piece?
A piece is something worth tracking: archival denim, a designer jacket, a rare bag, jewelry, sneakers or any item that matters to your collection. It does not need to be from a specific brand.
Does Pieces authenticate designer items?
No. Pieces organizes identity and public market evidence, but it does not provide professional authentication or appraisal services.
Are purchase prices public?
Purchase prices, receipts and private photos are not included in public closet projections.
